The i-Registro platform has emerged as a cornerstone of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) digital transformation, aiming to drastically speed up service delivery for the country’s most vulnerable households.
During the DSWD’s weekly media forum on December 12, Assistant Secretary and co-spokesperson Juan Carlo “JC” Marquez highlighted how i-Registro—a dynamic social registry and online registration tool—is revolutionizing how the agency manages beneficiary data.
Bridging the Digital Gap for 4Ps Families
Under the BFIRST Project (Beneficiary Fast, Innovative, Responsive, Service Transformation), a collaboration with the World Bank, the DSWD is moving into a critical second phase. While the first phase secured support for 4Ps cash grants, this current stage focuses on enhancing the “beneficiary experience” through tools like i-Registro.
Developed by the National Household Targeting Office (NHTO), i-Registro allows for:
- Self-Service Registration: Potential beneficiaries can register and authenticate their data online.
- Rapid Profile Updates: Existing 4Ps households can update their information without the need for manual, paper-based processes.
Focus on the First 1,000 Days (F1KD)
The platform is specifically designed to support the First 1,000 Days (F1KD) conditional cash grant. Following successful pilot runs in Pateros, Floridablanca (Pampanga), and Cordova (Cebu), the system has already proven its ability to capture vital data from households with pregnant women and children aged 0–2 years.
2025 Expansion: Targeting Nutrition and Health
Looking ahead to 2025, Asst. Secretary Marquez announced that i-Registro will scale up to cover 235 Local Government Units (LGUs). This expansion will prioritize areas with high incidences of stunting and malnutrition, ensuring that digital innovation leads directly to better health outcomes for Filipino children.
A Broader Digital Ecosystem
i-Registro is part of a larger suite of digital upgrades under the BFIRST project, which also includes the Integrated Grievance Redress Management System (IGRMS). Together, these systems ensure that DSWD services are not only faster but also more transparent and responsive to the public. #
